Respond to Instagram Messages from Your Desktop

Communicating and engaging with your followers is an essential part of growing your digital presence, which is why we are so stoked about this new feature. You can now reply to your Instagram Direct Messages on your desktop - meaning your digital engagement strategy is now even more flexible, efficient, and easy. Facebook has started rolling out a feature that allows users to read and respond to Instagram Direct Messages straight from the Facebook Page inbox. Read on to learn more! An important factor to note is that you must have a Facebook Business Page and Instagram Business Profile that are both linked to use the DM feature on your desktop. We'll walk you through the steps on how to connect and respond to your Instagram Direct Messages from Your Desktop below.

How to Connect & Respond to Instagram DM's from Your Desktop

  1. Open your Facebook Business Page on your desktop browser.
  2. Click on 'Inbox' and then select 'Instagram Direct' on the left side of the screen.
  3. If your Facebook Page and Instagram Business Profile are not connected, you'll see a message that says 'Connect an Instagram Account' with an option to click 'Connect Account' below. Select that, and you'll be redirected to Instagram to sign into your account and be connected.
  4. Once your Facebook and Instagram accounts are connected, you can view and respond to all of your Direct Messages from Instagram. Easy, right?!

Another thing to note about this new inbox feature is that it is also available on mobile through the Pages Manager app - perfect for responding to DM's while you're out and about. We love this feature for its convenience and accessibility - especially for users who receive a ton of DM's on a regular basis. It can be quicker and easier to type on a desktop instead of responding on your phone. We're all about better and more efficient workflow; PLANOLY has a similar feature that allows you to reply to comments on our web dashboard. It's safe to say that Instagram and Facebook will be looking for more ways to intertwine both platforms to work together and make your social strategy more integrated. Aside from this Direct Messaging feature, Facebook will also soon be rolling out the ability to view your Instagram Analytics from a desktop. We'll continue to share more Instagram news, so check back for more updates and features on the PLANOLY blog every week!
